What defines Industry 4.0

Industry 4.0 essentially means nothing more than a significant modernisation of software and hardware for industrial production facilities.

IoT and other related hardware are increasingly being used. In this way sensors, cameras and actuators can be operated conveniently. This allows data to be recorded at important points in the production chain.

If this data is then processed centrally with machine learning algorithms, neural networks or other data analysis tools with very low latency times, processes can be automated on much deeper level. In this manner, production processes can be virtualised as a whole.
When this data is appropriately integrated with ERP systems, supply chains and customer service, significant increases in efficiency can be realised while expanding the product range at the same time.
